College Accreditation

Accredo College Accreditation is a four-year quality award for further-education colleges, corporate training providers, and language centres — including English-only providers — confirming through inspection that teaching, assessment, learner support, and management meet Accredo's published standards.

Who is college accreditation for?

Independent and further-education colleges, vocational and skills providers, corporate training organisations, and language centres. Accredo explicitly accredits institutions that teach only English language — a category some accreditors exclude — and providers delivering face-to-face, online, or blended programmes.

What do inspectors assess?

The review is proportionate to a college's scale but covers the same evidence areas:

All criteria derive from the ten Accredo Standards, aligned with the ESG framework.

How does the process work?

  1. Register & scoping callCreate an account, complete registration, and join an online knowledge-exploration session so we understand your context.
  2. Self-evaluation & evidenceSubmit the application with documentation mapped to the standards above.
  3. Desk reviewInspectors assess your evidence and request clarification where needed.
  4. InspectionOn-site or virtual: observed teaching, facility review, and interviews with leadership, staff, and students.
  5. Report, decision & awardA graded written report goes to the Accreditation Board; successful institutions are accredited for four years.
  6. Annual monitoringYearly returns and an agreed improvement plan through to reaccreditation in year four.

Typical duration: three to six months. Institutions must have taught a student cohort for at least three months before inspection. Full detail: the inspection process.

What are the benefits?

Frequently asked questions

Does Accredo accredit English-language-only schools?
Yes — explicitly. Accredo accredits institutions teaching only English language, alongside general FE colleges, corporate trainers, and online providers.
Can a corporate training department be accredited?
Yes. Corporate training providers and in-company academies are within scope, with the criteria applied proportionately to a workplace delivery model rather than a campus one.
How long does college accreditation take?
Typically three to six months from registration to award, provided the college has been teaching a cohort for at least three months so inspectors can observe real delivery.
Is there an affordable option for small colleges?
Yes. Fees scale with institutional size, and small colleges can begin with Accredo Membership or candidacy status as stepping stones to full accreditation.
