Who is religious institutes accreditation for?

Seminaries, theological seminaries, Bible colleges, madrasas, yeshivas, monastic study houses, and faith-based schools and universities of every tradition. Faith-based institutions often sit awkwardly with secular accreditors: their mission is doctrinal as well as educational, and a fair review must assess educational quality without passing judgement on belief. Accredo's framework does exactly that — the standards assess how well the institution teaches what it teaches, and honours diverse beliefs while maintaining core quality values.

What do inspectors assess?

The standards apply to educational quality; doctrine remains the institution's own:

• Teaching and learning quality within the institution's own curriculum and tradition
• Governance, financial transparency, and safeguarding of students
• Student welfare, pastoral support, and fair treatment
• Staff qualifications appropriate to the subjects taught
• Facilities, resources, and health and safety
• Honest representation of awards: what the credential is and is not

All criteria derive from the ten Accredo Standards, aligned with the ESG framework.

How does the process work?

1. Register & scoping callCreate an account, complete registration, and join an online knowledge-exploration session so we understand your context.
2. Self-evaluation & evidenceSubmit the application with documentation mapped to the standards above.
3. Desk reviewInspectors assess your evidence and request clarification where needed.
4. InspectionOn-site or virtual: observed teaching, facility review, and interviews with leadership, staff, and students.
5. Report, decision & awardA graded written report goes to the Accreditation Board; successful institutions are accredited for four years.
6. Annual monitoringYearly returns and an agreed improvement plan through to reaccreditation in year four.
